HIV Public Health Team

The HIV Public Health Team manage the HIV notification and contact tracing process and assist in the management of people who place others at risk of HIV. They provide support and guidance for clinicians and confidential HIV contact tracing for people living with HIV and those who may have been at risk of HIV transmission.

Australasian Society of HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine is a peak, member-based organisation supporting health professionals in Australia and New Zealand working in HIV, BBVs, and sexual and reproductive health.

Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland provides access to culturally appropriate health information and services, including viral hepatitis, HIV and sexual health for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in Queensland.

Hepatitis Queensland is a non-government, community organisation that provides support, education and resources about viral hepatitis, and liver disease.

Open Doors Youth Service provides support services for LGBTIQAP+ young people and their families.

Queensland Council for LGBTI Health (QC) is a statewide non-profit, community-based organisation focused on providing quality services that enhance the health and wellbeing of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, sistergirl and brotherboy people and communities in Queensland. QC has a focus on reducing HIV transmission among gay men, men who have sex with men and other sex and gender diverse people at risk of HIV transmission.

Queensland Injectors Health Network (QuIHN Ltd) is an independent not-for-profit providing BBV and STI testing and treatment services along with a range of specialist social and medical services relating to alcohol, other drug use, and mental health.

Queensland Positive People is a peer-based organisation that advocates for people living with HIV, providing support, education, prevention, treatment and health promotion services about HIV and other STIs.

Queensland World AIDS Day aims to raise awareness in the Queensland community about HIV/AIDS.

Respect Inc. provides support services focused on the rights and wellbeing of Queensland sex workers.

Sexual Health Society of Queensland is a member-based organisation committed to provide high quality educational opportunities for its members and encouraging open and strong debate of issues in sexual health in Queensland.

True relationships and reproductive health provides clinical services, education and counselling related to reproductive and sexual health.

Women’s Health and Equality Queensland is a not-for-profit health promotion, information and education service which provides coaching, support and health information for women of all ages in Queensland.

Youth Empowered Towards Independence (YETI) supports the health and wellbeing of young people (aged between 12 and 25) who live in far north Queensland through a variety of programs.

Youth Link works with disadvantaged, homeless and at risk young people in Cairns, providing services and support in health (including sexual and reproductive health), housing and emergency relief.

Better to Know provides information for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people about common STIs as well as a service to advise their sexual partners that they might also be at risk by sending an email or SMS, either personally or anonymously.

Let Them Know is a free service to help people who have been diagnosed with a sexually transmissible infection tell their sexual partners they might be at risk.

The Drama Down Under provides information for men who have sex with men about the most common STIs and provides a service to advise their sexual partners that they might also be at risk by sending an email or SMS either personally or anonymously. Men can also register to receive a regular reminder to have a sexual health check-up.

Sexual health information for young people

Stop the Rise of STIs is a sexual health website for young Queenslanders aged 16-29.

Play Safe (NSW) provides information about safe sex, condoms, STI treatment and testing.

Get the Facts (WA) provides young people in Western Australia with information on sexual health and relationships, including STIs, BBVs, contraception, body image, tattoos and piercings.

Young Deadly Free is a project aiming to increase STI and BBV testing and treatment rates for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people living in remote communities across Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia and South Australia.

The Practical Guide to Love, Sex and Relationships for Years 7-10 is a Commonwealth funded teaching resource from the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society, La Trobe University exploring relationships, consent, equity, and sexual and reproductive health.

In Real Life is a guide to sex and relationships for 15 to 18 year olds in Australia, providing real life answers to questions about sex, relationships, pregnancy, STIs, contraception and their body.

Frank is a guide to sex and relationships for 18 to 30 year olds in Australia, providing frank questions and answers about sexual and reproductive health.
